Singer-Songwriter, Pianist.
Style mix: Alternative Folk, Rock, World, Jazz and Classical AKA the Fossil Pop
A lifelong pianist, singer-songwriter, and proud Houstonian-by-way-of-everywhere Loreta's songs reflect a life lived in many keys-blending Balkan, Latin, and Gulf Coast soul. She's serenaded audiences from Galveston to the International Space Station (yes, really) Loreta is spelled with only one T: this makes it easy to find her 5 hours of music on all platforms (thanks mom!). Classically trained, she shifted focus after tendinitis in her late 30’s embracing a wider musical range. Loreta holds a Doctorate Degree in Music from Rice University and is known for great classical piano recordings from Prokofiev to Beethoven. A profoundly meaningful conversation with Willie Nelson in Houston inspired her transition into a more creative journey since then.
Loreta Kovacic performs solo or with her band, AKA the “LORETA KOVACIC BAND” which includes Jeff Vyner on drums, John Edward Ross on guitar, and her family members: Stanislav Kovacic on cello, John Parani on voice and melodica, Joe Parani on THEREMIN: It’s the only band in Texas with a dedicated theremin player!
As early as high school Loreta was a sought after rock electronic keyboard player and was well known as Croatia’s and exYugoslavia’s first female rock electronic keyboard player. She loved playing original music on her Moog synth, in her rock band “Video Se” in Zagreb Croatia.
Dr. K performs anywhere from Croatia to Ireland, and from Carnegie Hall to a wide variety of Houston venues including Notsuoh Art Bar, McGonigel’s Mucky Duck, Continental Club Houston, etc. Her music can be found on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and also at her Studio, in Houston Heights.
Houston (lyric video)
This is a love song to my adopted home-town Houston. I talk about how this love story evolved. I mention most of my favorite events and places in H-town: Art Car Parade, NASA Mucky Duck, Montrose, Chinatown, etc.

Piano Lessons
As a teacher, Dr. Kovacic is eclectic in her choice of music and focused on inspiring students to be creative thinkers, not just piano players and singers.
Loreta started playing as a 5 year old child with her uncle in his church on island Hvar in Croatia where she spent her summers. It was a game on an old pump organ: an exchange of pumping pedals or playing on the keys: keys were easier and more fun! There was also singing. and magic, and stories from the past and the future. Languages too. Learning music was so fantastic. It is a lifelong process of learning and discovery and Loreta loves it even at her age. because it is a CREATIVE fine art.
